Are you an innovator in the NHS? Do you have an idea you wish to develop and scale for patient
benefit? The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme might be for you!

The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur programme will be welcoming applications for cohort 7, from the 3
October 2022.

Budding entrepreneurs can apply for this ground-breaking programme that is helping bring
innovations into the NHS to improve patient care.

The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, delivered by Anglia Ruskin University, is the biggest
entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind. Open to all NHS staff – both clinical
and non- clinical, the programme aims to provide the commercial skills, knowledge and experience
needed to successfully develop and spread innovative solutions to the challenges facing the NHS,
while retaining staff.

“It is truly amazing what can happen when you empower the NHS’ most valuable asset: its staff and
encourage them to push beyond the bounds of possibility.”

PROFESSOR TONY YOUNG OBE, NATIONAL CLINICAL LEAD FOR INNOVATION NHS ENGLAND; PROFESSOR OF
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND MEDICAL INNOVATION, ANGLIA RUSKIN UNIVERSITY

This year long programme is free and open to all NHS staff. The curriculum covers all aspects of
setting up and running a small business or being an intrapreneur, including attracting investors,
applying for funding, communications, and legal and regulatory considerations. Guidance on how to
build a start-up – and how to operate in this highly-charged environment is delivered as a series
of educational events attended by industry mentors.

The programme aims to allow entrepreneurs to pursue their innovation without having to leave the
health service, providing a wider benefit to economic growth through inward investment in the
health, social care, and life science sectors. As such, the programme currently offers mentoring,
bespoke commercial education, customer matching, resources, and development tools and access to a
community of likeminded individuals and industry experts.

“The programme gave me access to range or resources and expertise. The opportunity to showcase my
innovation to industry experts and contacts in the NHS gave me valuable insight and provide the
best ‘shop window’ for the innovation, one could ever hope for. “

DR BISWAJIT CHAKRABARTI, CONSULTANT RESPIRATORY PHYSICIAN, DIRECTOR AND LEAD OF CLINICAL
DEVELOPMENT AT LUNGHEALTH AND NHS CLINICAL ENTREPRENEUR
