HEE Midlands have reviewed the need to have an application window to manage Category 3 (Personal Choice) LTFT applications and have decided to remove the requirement to apply during the biannual windows with immediate effect from 27 April 2022.
Data from a review of applications showed that application numbers were low and the process created uncertainty for both doctors in training and educators.

All other requirements for applications for LTFT training remain unchanged but we would like to remind applicants that the requested start date for LTFT will need to be in line with Code of Practice guidelines before starting. This is around 3 calendar months once an application is approved. Applicants should apply in sufficient time to allow for this so as not to disrupt their training or those of their colleagues.
