Guidance on Access to Work
Guidance for Postgraduate Doctors and Dentists in Training
Access to work is a government funded scheme and forms an important part of supporting your learning needs, helping you to achieve your full potential throughout your training and will fund important IT equipment and other individual requirements.
For Doctors who are eligible for an Access to Work assessment, (sometimes also referred to as ‘workplace needs assessment’) you should be aware that it is your responsibility to make an Access to Work application within 4 weeks in order to avoid delays in getting vital equipment and funding to help enhance your training experience and support your new diagnosis.
To make an access to work claim there is some guidance available via the link below:

Access to Work may need to visit your workplace to understand your workplace environment so please ensure your Educational Supervisor and TPD are aware.
Your Trust HR Workforce Advisor should help facilitate the Access to Work process in line with local Trust employment guidelines.
For GP doctors in training please inform the Single Lead Employer that you are starting the Access to Work process. You can email them at: leademployer.eastmids@sthk.nhs.uk and they will be able to assist you with any funding queries and processes.
Please also be aware that HEE will be unable to optimise your educational support without an Access to Work assessment and the procurement of any recommended learning equipment made by Access to Work.
