Training locations are organised into Public Health Training Networks and have a Training Network Co-ordinator (TNC). At present we have 5 Networks; Derbyshire; Lincolnshire; Nottinghamshire; Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland (known as LNR) and Public Health England. Each TNC is designated managerial and administration support and a budget. Once in training your TNC will:
- Ensure you are kept up to date with Public Health training issues
- Ensure, along with the Head of School, you are allocated appropriately to an Educational Supervisor
- Ensure you have access to basic facilities and be a point of contact for you to discuss resource availability
- Ensure arrangements are in place for you to meet trainers and trainees within your Network
- Provide support to both you and your trainer
Communications
The region is well served by transport links. Both the A1 and the M1 run the length of the region, as do the East Coast and Midland railway lines. There is an international airport in the region
- East Midlands Airport - International flights, Europe and beyond
There are other airports nearby, such as:
Industry
The area covers a variety of industry. Much of the rural areas support farming, and food production. There has been coal-mining and steel production in the past, but these are declining industries. With economic re-development these are being replaced with light engineering and service industries.
Traditionally the region has been famous for textiles, clothing and shoes. There is also a strong pharmaceutical and drug industry locally. In addition tourism is well supported.
